Daniel Farke has just written himself into the Championship record books after watching his Leeds United side beat Millwall 2-0 on Wednesday night.
All is well again after a return to winning ways for Leeds United in their 2-0 victory over Millwall at Elland Road, courtesy of an own goal and then a late goal from Ao Tanaka: his fourth in the league this season.
The three points lifts the Whites back into 1st place of the Championship table after Sunday’s 1-0 defeat at Portsmouth allowed Sheffield United to catch up, and then leapfrog Leeds after drawing against Bristol City on Tuesday night.
Millwall put up a tough fight on Wednesday. Leeds were poor in spells but ultimately got the job done. Though Daniel Farke faced criticism from fans on social media throughout the game, with his team selection among other matters coming under the spotlight.
Throughout the campaign and especially of late, with Leeds having had a dip in form and a brief drop down into 2nd, Farke has faced fury from fans.
Daniel Farke reaches 50 Championship wins with Leeds United
The win against Millwall was Farke’s 50th Championship win as Leeds boss, in what was his 83rd league game in charge of the Whites. Now in his second season as manager, Farke has just set the record for the fastest time to reach 50 league wins as a Championship manager, in charge of one team.
In 92 Championship games, Bielsa won 53, reaching his 50th win with a 1-0 win away at Swansea City in Round 43 of the 2019/20 season; what was his 89th league game in charge of Leeds.
Farke has now overseen 95 games in charge of Leeds United, winning an incredible 55 of those games to leave him with a win percentage of 57.89%, compared to Bielsa’s 47.65%, although the latter obviously enjoyed success with Leeds in the Premier League.

Leeds United’s next five Championship fixtures
Whilst 50 Championship wins and a new league record is a personal milestone for Farke, it’ll matter very little to him and his side. They want promotion this season, and winning the title would be the cherry on the top.
Of their next five Championship games, only two are at home, with a trip to Middlesbrough thrown in there as well. But it’s looking like a pretty nice run of fixtures for the Whites.

Leeds though have struggled in games against weaker opponents at times this season, doing just that against Portsmouth very recently.
But there’s a two week break coming up for the internationals and it’ll be a good time for the players to rest, and for Farke to take stock ahead of the all important run in.
