Leeds United retook their perch at the top of the Championship table with a 2-0 win over Millwall on Wednesday night.
Leeds United eased the pressure, albeit only somewhat, in their race for Championship promotion this season, beating Millwall 2-0 and moving back into 1st.
Daniel Farke’s side went into the game in 2nd after Sheffield United’s 1-1 draw with Bristol City on Monday.
But the Whites were in front against Millwall after just three minutes thanks to a Jake Cooper own goal. Ao Tanaka scored his fourth goal of the season late on to seal the win.

Leeds United fans were seriously impressed with Joe Rothwell vs Millwall
In the first half in particular, Joe Rothwell earned huge plaudits from Leeds United on social media who described him as “terrific” and “outstanding”, with cries to “sign him” from parent club Bournemouth.
“What a signing he has been,” said one Leeds supporter. “Rothwell clear Man of the Match so far,” said another, as this fan added: “Rothwell running the show.”
Rothwell has only started two league games since the start of February with Farke preferring Ilia Gruev. Though Gruev was benched for Rothwell against Millwall.
One Leeds fan posted: “Glad Rothwell has started for a change. Always makes such an impact.” A similar comment read: “Rothwell should always start.”

How much Bournemouth want for Joe Rothwell this summer
The 30-year-old midfielder remains under contract at Bournemouth until the summer of 2026. But with the Cherries flying high in the Premier League this season, there might not be scope for Rothwell to return and make an impact.
A summer sale may be the likeliest outcome, and reports earlier in the year revealed that Bournemouth want £7.5million for Rothwell.
Soon after, Leeds fans made their feeling about Rothwell clear – they want to see him signed permanently in the summer. And performances like his one again Millwall certainly gives Farke plenty of reason to get the deal done.
