Daniel Farke has insisted it is his job to ensure a situation like this will ‘never happen again’ at Leeds United.
Farke was speaking to the local press, via Leeds Live, after Leeds’ 2-0 defeat to Manchester United in Oslo, in what was the German’s first game in charge of his new club.
The Whites were without a number of key players for various different reasons in their pre-season friendly, as the uncertainty surrounding who is staying or going continues.
Rasmus Kristensen and Rodrigo were among those absent as they tie up moves elsewhere, with the former set to become Leeds’ fifth loan exit of the summer after Robin Koch, Diego Llorente, Brenden Aaronson and Marc Roca.
Rodrigo, meanwhile, is making the switch to Qatari side Al-Rayyan for a measly fee of between £3.5m and £4m, with Leeds having struggled to bring in any decent money for their players so far.
Farke insists Leeds must never be in this position again
Farke was asked on the state of his current squad after the game and admitted the current situation regarding players leaving on loan is not ideal, but he is determined to ensure it does not happen again.
He said: “It’s too early to judge it and also speak about it. We have, of course, already lost a few players and everyone knows about the situation. They went out on loan so we don’t get any money out of this. It’s a situation after relegation. There are a few clauses and we have to accept it. It’s no complaining about this.
“The situation is like it is. We just have to make sure and have to be fully aware this will never happen again in the future. We accept the situation and we know it’s a difficult task, but if it would be easy everyone could do it.
“I’m looking forward to bringing the solidity and stability into the staff and we have to wait until the end of August, that’s the truth, and until then we won’t know who is really with us for the whole season.
“Obviously, we need to be there with some good decisions over the next weeks in order to win also as many points as possible in August because each and every point will count, but it will be a long, long time until the transfer window’s over and we’ll see what happens.”
These comments have caused some concern on Twitter in regard to how much Leeds may have to spend this summer, but in reality it is just Farke saying what everyone has been thinking over the last few weeks.
Farke is clearly determined to come out of the other side of this period for the better and is continually working to put a lid on expectations.
