Daniel Farke delivers ‘good’ Leeds United injury update ahead of Luton Town clash

Leeds United are preparing to face Luton Town on Saturday and Daniel Farke has delivered an injury update on his squad following last weekend’s disastrous draw against Swansea.

Illan Meslier has come in for huge criticism after he made two more mistakes that cost Leeds points. Dropping a corner at the feet of Harry Darling, before allowing Zan Vipotnik’s shot to go past him.

Not the first time this season, either. Meslier was at fault for two, if not all three goals in the 3-3 draw against Hull while throwing the ball into the back of the net in the dying moments against Sunderland.

However, the positives last week were that Leeds had a clean bill of health. Ethan Ampadu was fit again and started, albeit he looked rusty against Swansea – while Patrick Bamford and Max Wober are back.

Daniel Farke delivers new injury update ahead of Luton clash

The German manager has been speaking in his pre-match press conference on Thursday afternoon and confirmed that Karl Darlow will start over Illan Meslier, as well as providing an injury update on his squad.

“Good news. All of the players available for the last game are available for the weekend. No new injuries. Each and and every other day brings them [Wober and Bamford] closer. They are in the mix,” Farke said.

On Ampadu, Farke continued: “This week has been important for him. His first 60 minutes, easier in a home game, against a Welsh side. Tanaka was away. Didn’t expect him to be at his best, straight away.”

Luton injury news and worrying Daniel Farke record

Last weekend, Luton welcomed back three key players from long-term injuries. Reece Burke, Tahith Chong and Amari’i Bell all played in Luton’s 1-0 win over Joe Gelhardt’s Hull after spending time out injured.

But, Luton will be without four players in Shandon Baptiste, Marvelous Nakamba, Jacob Brown and Teden Mengi. Isaiah Jones is a doubt with Hull coming too soon for the former Middlesbrough star last week.

Both sides will be pushing for the win as Matt Bloomfield looks to guide his side away from the relegation zone, and Leeds look to reignite their promotion push – but Daniel Farke’s record vs Luton is a concern.

The German has faced Luton four times as a manager, winning two and losing two. Both defeats have come in the two games he has managed against Luton at Kenilworth Road, Saturday’s venue for the clash.
