Daniel Farke delivers injury update as Leeds United look to bounce back against Millwall

Daniel Farke has been speaking during Monday’s press conference a little over 24 hours after Sunday’s defeat to Portsmouth, with Leeds United facing Millwall on Wednesday night.

Leeds could do nothing but watch their 17-game unbeaten run come to an end as Colby Bishop’s strike proved to be the only goal of the game despite golden chance for Joel Piroe and Junior Firpo.

The Whites were without Ethan Ampadu, Max Wober and Patrick Bamford who remain out injured, but Bamford could make a return sooner rather than later after Bamford was spotted in training last week.

Luckily for Leeds, they are in action on Wednesday night and can look to put things right quickly. But it comes against a Millwall side that have already beaten Leeds on two occasions during 2024-25.

Daniel Farke delivers injury update 48 hours before Millwall clash

Ampadu and Wober are expected to be out until after the international break, which will see eight games still to be played. Bamford though may finally get a chance after being injured on New Year’s Day.

Daniel Farke gave an update on the injury status of his Leeds squad during Monday’s press conference. He said that he is confident that he will have the same squad available, despite a few knocks and bruises.

“There were one or two knocks and a few bruises but nothing majorly concerning. I hope to have the same amount of players or the same players available. Everything should be prepared, same squad.”

The changes Daniel Farke could make to his Leeds United side

The likelihood is that Farke will revert to Joe Rothwell in the middle of the park. The on-loan ace was taken out of the side at Portsmouth with Farke often preferring the more-defensive Ilia Gruev away.

Rothwell often starts at home and the experienced midfielder will surely start against Millwall. But given it was a defeat, there could be more changes and Wilfried Gnonto will be a candidate to start out wide.

Brenden Aaronson’s poor form needs to be addressed and perhaps, Gnonto could be given a go in the no.10 role. Or, Farke drops Joel Piroe to the 10 role and brings in Mateo Joseph to lead the Leeds line.
