Leeds United will be desperate to get back to winning ways and Daniel Farke will be under pressure when it comes to his team selection, with many fans criticising his XI against Portsmouth.

For the first time in 18 Championship games, Leeds suffered defeat in the league on Sunday as Farke’s men came unstuck at Fratton Park. Colby Bishop’s goal proving to be the only goal of the game.

Understandably, fans are worried it could be another implosion like last season. After 36 games last term, Leeds had the same amount of points but only obtained 14 from the final 10 Championship games.

Leeds will need more than that this time around to get promoted – arguably, towards 20. All eyes will be on Farke’s selection and rotation could be required to get the job done against bogey team Millwall.

Daniel Farke confirms Jayden Bogle will definitely start vs Millwall

While Leeds fans are worried, Farke has remained calm and collected. He has assured fans there will be no mirror of last season’s run-in, and might even be quite pleased with Sunday’s performance at Pompey.

Joel Piroe had two golden chances, Junior Firpo had one while Firpo also crashed an effort against the bar and Leeds should have had a penalty. On another day, Leeds could quite easily have scored four goals.

Neil Warnock says Farke will move on quickly from the loss and perhaps, consistency in his team selection is required. One issue is Jayden Bogle, who is on nine yellow cards and is one away from a two-game ban.

Farke was asked if he would drop Bogle: “If you rotate him then he’s already missing one game even if a suspension is two games. Hope he comes through without a yellow. Missing one game makes no sense.

“He’s a top player, a very important player. We could speak about resting him due to load, but he came through against Josh Murphy without a yellow. I rested him in the last 20 because we need his drive.”

Leeds form when Jayden Bogle starts and when he doesn’t

Bogle has been a mainstay since his £5m move from Sheffield United in the summer, starting 34 of Leeds’ 36 League games so far. He’s had a hand in six goals from right-back, scoring four and creating two.

But he has been missing for two matches, while also being rested in all three of Leeds’ Cup games. It is clear Leeds are a much better side when Bogle is in the team, losing two of the five without the defender.

While there are a few changes Farke could make to his side on Wednesday night, keeping Bogle in the side is an absolute must as he continues to form a brilliant relationship with Dan James on the right flank.
