Daniel Farke has taken a big step to levelling Neil Warnock’s long-standing record after Leeds United secured promotion to the Premier League.
It’s been far from easy for Leeds United this season but their long-awaited return to the Premier League was finally confirmed on Easter Monday.
Leeds defeated Stoke City 6-0 but had to wait until Burnley secured a 2-1 win over Sheffield United before the real celebrations could begin.
It’s been a massive turnaround after a run of just one win in six games saw Leeds staring down the barrel of another agonising Play-off campaign.
However, Daniel Farke kept his cool and the side pulled out successive victories over Middlesbrough, Preston and Oxford United to move back to top spot in the Championship table.
They were helped massively by Sheffield United’s collapse, with Chris Wilder losing his composure as his side lost three games on the spin.
The Blades returned to winning ways on Good Friday but were defeated at Turf Moor to condemn them to the Play-offs.
Now, Leeds will be back in the top flight next season, with Farke earning his third promotion to the Premier League.

Daniel Farke has now won three Premier League promotions
With Leeds’ ascent to the promised land now set in stone, Farke has secured his third promotion from the English second tier – just one away from Neil Warnock’s long-standing record of four.
The former Leeds manager is synonymous with the second division, earning promotion from it with four different clubs.
The first came with Notts County in 1990-91, years before the Championship was formed in 2004. He has also guided Sheffield United, QPR and Cardiff City to the Premier League.
Warnock holds the record with Steve Bruce, who has also been promoted four times, twice with Birmingham City and twice with Hull City.
Daniel Farke is one of the Championship’s most successful managers ever
Farke has now firmly established himself as one of the best and most successful managers in the history of the Championship.
In fact, when it comes to points per match, he has now surpassed Marcelo Bielsa in the second tier and only stands behind Burnley boss Scott Parker, who has also now been promoted three times after Burnley’s win.
Farke averages 1.92 per game over 227 games, whereas Parker just edges him out at 1.93. Though he has managed significantly fewer matches with 136.
Leeds now sit on 94 points, already surpassing the 92 record Bielsa set in 2019-20, and they could reach the magic 100 mark if they win their two remaining fixtures against Bristol City and Plymouth Argyle.
