Daniel Farke annoyed with 21-year-old Leeds player vs Birmingham, spotted shaking his head

Leeds United returned to winning ways against Birmingham City on Monday, but that did not stop Daniel Farke from showing some frustration.

The Whites endured a tricky festive period with back-to-back defeats for the first time under Farke at Preston North End and West Bromwich Albion, but ran out comfortable winners over Birmingham.

Patrick Bamford was on the scoresheet for the first time since April in his first start of the season, with Dan James and Crysencio Summerville also finding the back of the net.

Despite not registering a goal contribution, Georginio Rutter was arguably the star of the show, though, playing in the number 10 role just behind Bamford.

But according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Farke was left ‘exasperated’ with something Rutter did in the first half, when Leeds were only 1-0 up.

Having taken up a position on the right-wing, Liam Cooper located Rutter with a nice switch of play. However, instead of taking it down normally, Rutter did something else.

Rutter went for a more skilful approach to bring the ball down, and while he killed it dead expertly, Farke was not happy with the 21-year-old and was not afraid to express his frustration.

It is said that Farke gave both a flap of the arms and shake of the head in response to Rutter’s touch. In fairness, though, the Leeds boss was full of praise for his performance at full-time.

This is not the first time Farke has expressed frustration at what he perceives to be showboating from Rutter, having also done so after a game earlier in the season.

Clearly it is not that much of a big issue and really it is a sign of the confidence Rutter is playing with. Farke may just have to come to accept that this is part of his playing style.
