Crysencio Summerville is yet to really explode on the Premier League scene following his move from Leeds United to West Ham United, but he could be set to earn Leeds a fee of £4m.
The 23-year-old earned a big-money move to West Ham in the summer after winning the Championship Player of the Season award for Leeds United, having a hand in 31 goals throughout the 2023-24 season.
In a side that relied heavily on individuals last season, whereas this season it is more of a collective, the pocket-sized Dutchman would often win games by himself – the 3-2 comeback at Norwich is an example.
Following his move to West Ham, Summerville is yet to really have an impact but a big reason for that is the Hammers are struggling under new manager Julen Lopetegui and a major summer transfer revamp.

Summerville ‘ready’ to win Netherlands cap and earn Leeds £4m
Summerville’s transfer fee was not as high as the £40m figures that saw Archie Gray and Georginio Rutter join Tottenham and Brighton. It did see Leeds rake in an initial £25m, and it could go as high as £34m.
Indeed, Leeds could receive another £9m in add-ons from West Ham. A £5m portion of that is down to performance-related add-ons while another £4m will be paid when he wins his first Netherlands cap.
Summerville is yet to do that. One goal in 12 Premier League games will not yet tempt Ronald Koeman but speaking to Voetbal Primeur this week, Summerville said he is “always ready” for the phone to go.
“I haven’t spoken to Koeman yet. If the national coach thinks I’m ready, I’ll be ready. Actually, I’m always ready. If I can show everyone my magic , I’m at my best. Then the rest will follow automatically,” he said.
Leeds won’t get £4m fee for January, but could do next summer
As aforementioned, Summerville is yet to really prove himself in the Premier League. At Leeds, he did go on a scoring run of four goals in four league games – but he was a rotational option under Jesse Marsch.
At West Ham so far, he has just one Premier League goal. Leeds fans were delighted as it came in a win over Manchester United, but Summerville will need to do a lot more than that to win a Netherlands cap.
Summerville’s numbers in the Premier League:
| Season | Club | Games (Starts) | Minutes | Goals | Assists |
| 2021-22 | Leeds | 6 (0) | 126 | 0 | 0 |
| 2022-23 | Leeds | 28 (12) | 1415 | 4 | 2 |
| 2024-25 | West Ham | 12 (5) | 472 | 1 | 0 |
Koeman is renowned for his faith in youth, his focus in attacking players and bringing through those that are in form. A Netherlands cap at some point is inevitable, but Leeds won’t get £4m before January.
All internationals have so far, been played this year. The next time Koeman’s men are in action is in March and it leaves Summerville with a few months to finally get back to his best and show why he cost £34m.
