Leeds United are close to securing a deal for Burnley defender Connor Roberts on loan before the deadline at 11pm – but he might not be the only addition, with Newcastle’s Paul Dummett touted.

Roberts has struggled for game time at Burnley and he is set for a move to Leeds. Vincent Kompany said he would not stand in the Wales star’s way if he wanted to go – and he is undergoing a medical.

A signing that has got the seal of approval from Karl Robinson. But coming into the window, Daniel Farke admitted he wanted a left-back – with Junior Firpo and Sam Byram renowned for their injury issues.

That is yet to happen, and looks unlikely going into the final four hours of the transfer window. But, Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that Leeds could make a late move for Newcastle United man Dummett.

“Dummett is an interesting one that’s cropped up late. I wouldn’t say give up to Leeds fans at this stage because there’s always the possibility that if the value is there, then Leeds might do it,” Jones said.

Newcastle man Paul Dummett touted as late Leeds signing

Dummett, 32, is in the final year of his £39k-a-week contract at Newcastle and has managed just four appearances for The Toon this season – despite their injuries. He is unlikely to get a new deal their.

A Wales international, the left-back would take our contingent to five Wales players after the signing of Roberts. So, there is a chance Leeds could make a move, and he would be available for a late transfer.

But, whether there is enough time to secure a deal for Dummett and whether he would be willing to relocate at this late stage, remains to be seen. A Championship winner, with the Toon in 2016-17.
