Connor Roberts enjoyed a brief loan spell at Leeds United but now he’s hoping his Burnley side dethrone them in the title race.
Roberts had a short but solid stint at Elland Road, but it’s clear the right-back was a strong option as Roberts was impressive at times for Leeds.
The Welshman made the choice to join Leeds in January 2024 having not got much game time in the Premier League under Vincent Kompany.
It seems as though he’s had a resurgence under Scott Parker, and will be hoping the title colours are claret and blue.
Obviously, the opposite is wanted from a Leeds point of view, but Roberts has sent a rallying cry as he looks set for one last showdown against his former club.

Connor Roberts sends Burnley message ahead of Leeds United title showdown
With the Whites and Burnley level on 97, both clubs could end up finishing on 100 points, but Leeds have a much superior goal difference.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 1 | 45 | 28 | 13 | 4 | 93 | 29 | 64 | 97 | |
| 2 | 45 | 27 | 16 | 2 | 66 | 15 | 51 | 97 |
But Burnley have been praised for their remarkable defensive record after only 15 goals have been suffered with Roberts at the heart of Parker’s back line.
This may be, but Leeds have bettered Burnley’s defence at times, showing they can do it in both attack and defensively.
Roberts can’t do too much about the attacking side of things, but he has shown his presence off the pitch.
Now he’s sent a clear message to rally the Burnley camp in a potential warning to his former employers in Leeds.
Taking to his Instagram story, Roberts bizarrely put: “Last rodeo of the season. One in all in. Yeehaw.”

Farke should go back in for Roberts at Leeds
After his 14 league appearances for the Whites showed he can be a reliable option, maybe this is something Daniel Farke considers in the summer.
Of course, there is no replacing Jayden Bogle, but after Roberts didn’t quite adjust to the Premier League, maybe Parker won’t see fit to have him as a regular, and instead, Farke can bring him back as a solid squad option.
Roberts saw his long-term future at Leeds and although he wouldn’t have a starting position, his performances this season have shown he could be an ideal backup.
| Roberts’ statistics for Burnley this Championship season | |
| Games played | 40 |
| Goals | 2 |
| Assists | 3 |
| Tackles won % | 67.4% |
| Duels won % | 62.6% |
Who knows what will happen, but for now, Leeds fans will be hoping to get one over Roberts as it’s set to be a title showdown for the ages.
