‘Class’: Illan Meslier wowed by performance of 24-year-old Leeds man against Hull City

Illan Meslier has praised the performance of Pascal Struijk in Leeds United’s 0-0 draw at Hull City.

Meslier was responding to Struijk’s post-match Instagram post after the Dutchman played a key part in Leeds leaving the MKM Stadium with a point.

Leeds kept their third Championship clean sheet in a row on Wednesday night as Daniel Farke continues to build the foundations of a promotion side.

The Whites were forced to really dig in during the final half an hour following Joe Rodon’s red card on 60 minutes, with his first booking having left Farke really frustrated at the referee.

Aside from an incredible miss by Adama Traore, Leeds restricted Hull to very little in the way of clear-cut chances, with the home side failing to register a single shot on target.

Meslier praises Struijk performance

Writing on Instagram after the game, Struijk said: “Stalemate. Hard-earned clean sheet.” Meslier then responded with the message ‘class bro’.

It is becoming more apparent with each game that passes that Struijk is getting his confidence back following a difficult season last year.

Struijk was frequently played out of position at left-back and by the end of the season his form had completely tailed off.

However, all be it in the Championship, Struijk appears to be getting close to getting back to his best, having played every minute of every league game this season in his preferred role.

Up until Rodon’s red card, the two had been building a formidable defensive partnership and hopefully they can rekindle that at Southampton in nine days’ time.
