‘Poor’: Daniel Farke shares frustration at decision in Leeds’ draw with Hull City

Daniel Farke has been left frustrated at the first yellow card brandished to Leeds United’s Joe Rodon against Hull City.

Farke was speaking in his post-match interview following Leeds’ 0-0 draw at Hull City in which he criticised a number of the referee’s decisions.

Rodon was sent off on the hour mark at the MKM Stadium after picking up a second yellow card for a foul on Aaron Connolly.

But it was not the second booking that has left Farke annoyed, but the first, with Rodon having been very harshly shown a yellow.

Farke believes that the decision to even award Hull with a free-kick for the ‘challenge’ was questionable, let alone to put him in the book.

Farke questions refereeing decisions

Speaking after the game, Farke was left frustrated at more than just the decision to send Rodon off by the referee, but also the way he handled some of the fouls on Crysencio Summerville.

He said: “He is feeling unfortunate the first yellow came. Tactical fouls on Summerville sum up how poor the yellows were tonight. First one was not even a foul, let alone a yellow. If you are booked, you have to be smarter, go smarter in the duels. Situation changes the game.”

Farke is right on both counts in that Rodon should manage the situation better when on a booking, but with that said, the first decision cannot be excused.

It is absolutely abysmal that the referee has seen that as a foul, let alone a yellow card offence and it is another key decision, like against West Brom, which has gone against them.

That was a real turning point in the game with Leeds having dominated the first hour, meaning emotions are mixed having returned home with only a draw.
