Chris Mepham is a player that has been regularly linked with a move to Leeds United so far during the January window and now, the Whites have competition – from Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United.
That is according to a report from The Sun’s transfer expert Alan Nixon, who claim Wilder has identified the Wales defender as a man to boost his side’s options in the race to survive the threat of relegation.
Mepham, 26, has struggled for game time at Bournemouth alongside Luis Sinisterra and Tyler Adams, under boss Andoni Iraola. Leeds are also keen on Bournemouth stars David Brooks and Kieffer Moore.
With Djed Spence and Luke Ayling leaving the club this month, there is expected to be movement and following the exits of those two men – Leeds are set to step up moves for Mepham and Connor Roberts.
But the lure of Premier League football could now tempt £12m Mepham, who has played less than 200 minutes in England’s top tier. Mepham may be tempted to join the growing contingent of Wales players.

Chris Wilder wants to sign Leeds United target Chris Mepham
Leeds already have Dan James, Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon – a player that Mepham is a big fan of, his centre-back partner for Wales under Rob Page. He will want game time ahead of a Euro 2024 campaign.
But if Mepham can be promised he will start for the Blades in the top tier, then it will be difficult to turn down. The report even says that Wilder may make a permanent move, which may tempt Bournemouth.
One to keep an eye on as the window enters the latter half of the month. Leeds meanwhile, have a week off again – before taking on Preston at Elland Road on Sunday, a game that we lost in the reverse fixture.
