Here is everything you need to know about the Championship for the 2024/25 season for Leeds United, including the fixture release date, the opening day, international breaks and more.

After a disappointing end to the 2023/24 season, Leeds United are preparing for another campaign in the Championship.

The Whites finished third last time out, which forced them through the challenge of the play-offs and the difficulties that brings.

While a place in the final was booked, Leeds eventually lost out to Southampton in the play-offs, stopping an instant return to the Premier League.

Despite that disappointment, the Leeds owners have stuck with Daniel Farke as he looks set to guide the team into the new season.

So, just how will the Leeds boss do in his second attempt at getting the team out of the second division?

With that said, here’s a look at all the important information you need to know about the Championship for the 2024/25 season.

Championship fixture release date 2024/25

The fixture schedule for the 2024/25 Championship season will be released on Wednesday, June 26th, 2024 at approximately 9am (BST).

In 46 league fixtures last season, Leeds won 27, drew nine and lost ten on their way toward a third-place finish.

When does the 2024/25 Championship season start?

The 2024/25 Championship season starts on the weekend of August 10th, 2024, with the fixtures still to be revealed.

Leeds kickstarted the previous campaign with a tie at Elland Road against Cardiff City, which ended in a 2-2 draw.

When does the 2024/25 Championship season end?

The 2024/25 Championship season ends on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, with every match scheduled to be played at the same time.

Last season, Leeds hosted Southampton in the final game of the regulation season, which ended 2-1 to the Saints.

When are the international breaks?

There are four international breaks over the Championship season, with three in the first few months and one at the latter stages of the campaign.

Which teams are in the 2024/25 Championship?

As usual, there are 24 teams taking part in the 2024/25 Championship season, with a few returning clubs in the mix.

The promoted trio of Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton have been replaced by the relegated teams Luton Town, Burnley and Sheffield United.

Meanwhile, in the other direction, the relegated teams Rotherham United, Birmingham City and Huddersfield Town have been replaced by Derby County, Portsmouth and Oxford United.

Is there VAR in the Championship?

While the use of VAR (Video Assistant Referee) was permitted for the Championship play-off final, it won’t be present throughout the 2024/25 Championship season.

VAR has been used in the Premier League since 2019, though the second tier has opted against using the technology so far.

Goal-line technology has been in use in the Championship since its introduction though.
