Several managers are now being linked to Leeds amid a poor run of results under Daniel Farke.

Steven Gerrard has been tipped for Elland Road by Sam Allardyce, while Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers have also been mentioned as potential replacements for the German.

Carlos Corberan has also found himself linked with a return to Leeds – where he once worked as part of the staff under Marcelo Bielsa – but Cesar Tarrega has now poured cold water on the rumours.

Corberan is an option for Leeds, but the latest emerging from Spain suggests a return to Yorkshire is highly unlikely.

Tarrega – one of the captains at Valencia – has now backed the Spaniard amid a run of one win in eight games, telling Super Deporte he was β€œastonished” to hear talk of squad unrest as the Spanish side sit 15th in La Liga.

The 23-year-old said: β€œFrom the moment I heard that news, I was astonished. The squad has never had any problems with the coach. We are fully behind him and his coaching staff. There are no problems in the dressing room. We have remained calm and united.”

The 49ers are spoilt for choice… but who would you pick as Leeds United’s next manager?

Corberan would be a risky appointment for Leeds anyway given his struggles for results so far this season, but the rumours now seem to be dead in the water regardless after Tarrega backed the 42-year-old.

Lucas Beltran and Jose Copete have also leapt to defend Carlos Corberan

Regardless of poor results, the former Leeds coach seems a popular man at Valencia, as Tarrega is not the only one of his players to publicly back him.

Lucas Beltran also defended Corberan – saying: β€œWe’re doing well, very united, with those good feelings after the match against Real Betis. We have a great dressing room, a very healthy one.

β€œWe’re all pulling in the same direction… there’s talk that we’re in a situation where we want the coach sacked, and that’s unthinkable. As a person or a player, it would never occur to me to do something like that.”

Daniel Farke is statistically Leeds’ worst Premier League manager πŸ“‰

Furthermore, another Valencia player in Jose Copete has backed Corberan and said: β€œThe team is behind the manager, we’re all united and really looking forward to Sunday so we can win the game, which is what we all want.”

With such strong support from his squad, it would be a major shock if Corberan ended up replacing Farke at Leeds.
