Leeds United fans are becoming increasingly concerned at the lack of time remaining in the January window as they await a deal for Connor Roberts – now, Burnley have announced a defender’s exit.

But it is not the one that Leeds fans want, in the form of 28-year-old Roberts joining Leeds. Instead, it comes in the form of CJ Egan-Riley. The young defender has joined PSV until the end of the season.

Burnley have announced the loan on Twitter and perhaps it is a sign that they are going to start posting some exits on social media, in order to confirm the deals. But nothing has been said about Roberts.

Indeed, with little over two hours left to run in the window, nothing has been confirmed and knowing Leeds – fans are worried. Even Joe Rodon’s brother has sent Roberts another message on Twitter.

Leeds will still be confident of securing a deal for Roberts before the deadline at 11pm, with plenty of time still to get a deal over the line. But, this is Leeds, and fans have learnt to expect the unexpected.

Roberts is not the only player to be linked with a move to Leeds on deadline day. Leicester’s Harry Souttar, Newcastle United’s Paul Dummett, Everton’s Mason Holgate and Forest skipper Joe Worrall.

But Roberts is the only one that looks like he is going to end up at Elland Road on deadline day – however, nothing has been announced yet, even with Burnley announcing exits on their social channels.
