Leeds United are putting the feelers out for some new full-backs, with Vladimir Coufal being one of them.

Signing new full-backs is quickly becoming a very pressing transfer priority for Daniel Farke at Leeds United, no less because of the pending departure of Junior Firpo to Real Betis.

On both sides of defence, more bodies are needed. And one name who could make the move to Elland Road this summer is Vladimir Coufal.

Following the conclusion of last season, it has been reported that Leeds United are in the race to sign Coufal this summer, with the Czech international garnering growing transfer interest.

Coufal is leaving West Ham as a free agent and the likes of Everton, Leeds, and Wolves have all been credited with an interest. It’s even been suggested that Coufal would prefer a move to Everton this summer where he’d reunite with former Hammers manager David Moyes.

Recently, Everton have made a move to sign Kenny Tete from Fulham, seemingly putting a halt to their pursuit of Coufal. But Fulham have now offered Tete a new deal to stay and so there’s a lot of uncertainty over where Coufal ends up this summer.

Coufal’s agent is former Reading, Brentford and Wolves winger Stephen Hunt. The former Republic of Ireland international now has his own sports agency business and Coufal is one of his clients, and Hunt has recently appeared on talkSPORT.

He was talking about his former Ireland teammate Keith Andrews and how he’s set to take the Brentford job following Thomas Frank’s appointment at Tottenham Hotspur. Hunt revealed how he’s looking after Coufal and he said of his current situation: “I look after Coufal at West Ham at the moment. We are just testing our options with him.”

It remains to be seen whether or not Leeds United have made an offer. But he’s strongly linked and there’s been no reports denying Farke’s interest in the 32-year-old right-back.

Leeds United have an in with Vladimir Coufal and Stephen Hunt

Earlier in the summer, it was revealed that neither Leeds nor Everton have made contact with Coufal. But Hunt’s latest update may suggest that there have since been initial talks and that Coufal has a number of options.

He’s already suggested that he’d like to stay in the Premier League and so a move to Leeds United could be a good option, as he’d surely get game time given the current lack of full-backs at the club’s disposal.

And there might be a potential in for Leeds to win the race for Coufal, albeit an unlikely one: Hunt is actually the brother of former Leeds United player Noel Hunt.

For Coufal, Hunt could be someone to talk to and to get an insight on Leeds United, the fans, the stadium, the city and so on, and that could prove to be an unlikely edge for Leeds United in the race to sign Coufal this summer.
