‘Brilliant’ Leeds player could miss Coventry game with Daniel Farke set to make very late decision

Daniel Farke once again has some late decisions to make on his Leeds United squad against Coventry City.

Farke had a number of doubts heading into last weekend’s win at Cardiff City but was able to include almost all of them in the squad.

Manor Solomon was the only 50/50 who missed out. He is set to be absent against against Coventry, with Farke now confirming the Israeli is nursing a hamstring issue.

Joe Rothwell, Junior Firpo and Joe Rodon were all also mentioned in his press conference, but were all fine to play and the latter two even getting the full 90 minutes.

And despite having a full week to recover ahead of the Elland Road clash with Coventry, Farke is in a similar position again in terms of injuries.

Farke issues Pascal Struijk injury update ahead of Leeds vs Coventry

Pascal Struijk missed the entire last five months of the 2023/24 season but has slotted in seamlessly again since his return on the opening day against Portsmouth.

Leeds have kept four clean sheets in their first six league matches, and a lot of that is down to his return in defence.

However, Farke has today told his press conference that Struijk could miss out this weekend due to some problems with his adductors.

Farke revealed the ‘brilliant‘ Struijk has not trained all week since playing 90 minutes at Cardiff, and so a late decision will be made depending on whether he can take part in Friday’s session.

He said: “Pascal struggling with adductors. Biggest question behind Pascal, not able to train. Definitely a chance, carefully optimistic, but to be available he needs to train tomorrow in our last session.”

Farke issues Junior Firpo and Patrick Bamford update

On top of updates on Solomon, Max Wober, Dan James and Struijk, Farke also mentioned Firpo and Patrick Bamford as potential doubts.

Like Struijk, Firpo has missed some training sessions this week. However, he was back on the grass today and providing he comes through unscathed.

Bamford, meanwhile, was unable to train on Wednesday after picking up a knock earlier in the week. Again, though, Farke is confident he will be available.

He said: “Junior problems, missed first part of this week. Back today. If it does not react in a bad way, he should be back. Patrick got a hit on Tuesday, but back in today. Optimistic he will be available for the game.”
