Ethan Ampadu has thanked Leeds United supporters for the welcome he has received after joining from Chelsea.
Ampadu wrote on Instagram for the first time since his move was announced on Wednesday, telling everyone how much he is looking forward to playing at Elland Road.
The 22-year-old has become Leeds’ first signing of the Daniel Farke era, who Ampadu claimed played a major role in convincing him this was the next best step in his career.
Leeds will pay in the region of £7 million + add-ons for Ampadu, with the midfielder having put pen-to-paper on a four-year deal that includes the option of a fifth.
He could make his debut as early as this Saturday when Leeds take on Ligue 1 side AS Monaco in a friendly at the York Stadium Leisure Complex.
Johnson and Watkins react to Leeds’ Ampadu arrival
Writing on Instagram for the first time after his signing was announced, Ampadu said: “Let’s go Leeds United family. Thank you to everyone for the welcome. See you all at Elland Road.”
Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins are just some of the players Ampadu knows well who have wished him luck on his move to Elland Road.
Ampadu, of course, knows both of these players well with Johnson currently an international teammate for Wales, whom Leeds’ latest signing has already been capped 44 times for.
Watkins, meanwhile, knows Ampadu from his time at Exeter City, where both progressed through the ranks of the academy before climbing the football ladder.
In fact, Exeter stand to make over £1 million from Ampadu’s move to Leeds, which will undoubtedly be huge for them.
