‘Best player on the pitch’… Leeds fans all agree one player was a ‘10/10’ vs Middlesbrough

Leeds United fans were once again left starstruck over the performance of one individual against Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.

Daniel Farke had a few standout performers during the 3-1 win against Middlesbrough in the Championship on Tuesday, in what was a solid all-round performance from the Whites.

Dan James stole the show for Leeds United against Middlesbrough, scoring the Whites’ second goal of the night to put them back in front after a Max Wober own goal.

There was also praise among Leeds fans on social media for names like Joe Rothwell who shone once again.

But it was midfielder Ao Tanaka who was the talk of Leeds’ twitter feeds after that win against Boro, which leaves Leeds United in 1st place of the Championship table.

Ao Tanaka was the ‘best player on the pitch’ for Leeds United vs Middlesbrough

Japanese midfielder Tanaka made his 17th Championship appearance of the season on Tuesday night, putting in yet another commanding display.

Leeds fans on social media described his performance as ’10/10′, labelling him the ‘best player on the pitch’.

Another Whites supporter added: “Ao Tanaka is levels above the opposition in this league. Different level. Signing of the season.”

A similar comment read: “Ao Tanaka is literally the best midfielder in the championship… no one comes close.”

Meanwhile, others described Tanaka as ‘absolutely unbelievable, so much consistency’ and ‘some player!’, with one supporter even saying Tanaka is the club’s ‘best bit of business in last 10 years’.

Leeds United took a gamble on Ao Tanaka, says Farke

Leeds United signed Tanaka in a £3.3million deal from German outfit Dusseldorf during the summer transfer window.

In the months since, he’s become a crucial player for Leeds United. But speaking recently, Farke revealed that few others were keen on signing Tanaka during the summer transfer window.

The Leeds boss said of the 26-year-old: “Ao Tanaka we get him from the second tier in Germany. At least no other Premier League club, Bundesliga club or Championship club saw what we saw in him.”

The Whites now have a two-point lead over Sheffield United who play away at Millwall on Wednesday night.
