Daniel Farke is ‘pleased’ with how Leeds United are looking defensively at the moment.
Farke was speaking in his post-match press conference after Leeds’ 0-0 draw with Hull City on Wednesday night, in which his side were forced to hold firm at the back.
Leeds were reduced to 10 men with half an hour to play at the MKM Stadium after Joe Rodon was given his marching orders for a second bookable offence, with his first yellow card having left Farke frustrated.
Aside from an incredible miss by Adama Traore, Leeds reduced the home side to very little in the way of clear-cut chances with Hull failing to register a single shot on target.
Leeds have now kept their third Championship clean sheet in a row having also stopped both Millwall and Sheffield Wednesday scoring either side of the international break.
Farke pleased with ‘rock solid’ Leeds
Speaking on Leeds’ recent defensive record, Farke spoke of his pleasure at seeing his side looking ‘rock solid’ at the back in recent weeks.
He said: “I think at the moment we’re looking rock solid against a good football side against the side who created so many chances also in the last game, I was pretty pleased with how well structured we are at the moment, how good and committed we work against the ball.”
The foundations of any good side are built from the back and given how poor Leeds’ defence has been in recent years, this run of clean sheets is highly promising.
You will always have a chance to win the game if you are able to prevent the other side from scoring, and with the attacking options at Leeds’ disposal, that will happen more often than not.
Leeds created enough chances to win the game in the opening 60 minutes but if you can’t win, it is important not to lose, which is what Farke’s side managed.
