Artem Dovbyk’s stance on a move to Leeds United as agent shares chances ‘right now’

Leeds United have a new striker on their summer transfer radar. But as things stand, a move may be looking unlikely.

Leeds United are in quite desperate need of a new striker. The Premier League season starts in just three weeks, and it looks as though Daniel Farke is about to lose two of his first-team strikers.

Mateo Joseph has handed in a transfer request and looks increasingly likely to leave before the summer transfer window shuts on September 1st. Meanwhile, Leeds United have told Patrick Bamford he’s free to leave the club this summer, having fallen out of favour following promotion to the Premier League.

But striker links are proving few and far between for the Whites right now. Nikola Krstovic has been linked with Leeds United throughout the summer, but he’s looking like a far-fetched target right now, and a pricey one too. Meanwhile, there’s a new name on the Elland Road radar in Artem Dovbyk at Roma.

Artem Dovbyk’s agent has already spoken out amid Leeds United rumours

Dovbyk, 28 is a Ukrainian international. The former Dnipro and Girona man joined Roma from Girona last summer for a rumoured fee of 38 million euros. In his first season in Rome, Dovbyk scored 12 and assisted two more in 32 Serie A matches.

However, after Roma signed former Leeds United transfer target Evan Ferguson, it looks as though Dovbyk could be on the move. Reports on Tuesday revealed how Leeds and West Ham have enquired about Dovbyk this summer, but the player’s agent has already spoken out this summer.

Speaking just 24 hours before links to Leeds United emerged, Dovbyk’s agent Oleksii Liundovskyi told La Roma 24: “Artem is focusing on preparing for Roma’s new season. Right now, that’s all he’s thinking about, and rumours like this in recent days have only created confusion for the boy.”

Leeds United’s remaining transfer priority is made clear

So far this summer, seven new players have joined Leeds United, with the last being Lucas Perri from Lyon. Farke has finally signed a new goalkeeper in Perri, and he’ll replace Illan Meslier ahead of next season, with the Frenchman now looking poised to leave West Yorkshire on a permanent basis.

And with a new goalkeeper, new defenders and new midfielders now in place, it is reported that Leeds United have three remaining transfer priorities, all in attack. Farke wants to sign a new winger, a new number 10, and a new striker.

For a good few days, it looked as though the new winger would be Igor Paixao from Feyenoord, though Paixao has since agreed a move to Marseille in what is a blow for Leeds United. Dovbyk is just one of very few strikers linked with Leeds right now.

But he’s coming off the back of a decent season in Serie A and at 28 years old, he could be considered to be in his prime years as a player. For Farke, this is an exciting potential signing.
