Leeds United were strongly linked with a move for Viktor Gyokeres in the summer having scouted the Swedish striker towards the end of last season – but now, Arsenal want to sign him in January.
Gyokeres, 25, had a hand in 60 goals for Coventry during 116 games before moving to Sporting Lisbon in the summer. The Daily Mail said Leeds sent scouts to watch Gyokeres at the end of the 22-23 term.
But he moved to Sporting Lisbon in the summer, and he has been incredible this season. Already this term, Gyokeres has scored 15 goals in 17 games for the Portuguese league leaders. Seven assists, too.
A recent report from 90Min said that AC Milan were keeping tabs on the striker, potentially bringing in Gyokeres as a replacement for a fellow Swede in Zlatan Ibrahimovic – who retired at the end of 22-23.
Now, Portuguese outlet Record say Arsenal are interested in a mov for Gyokeres – but Sporting are keen to keep the striker. Sporting want a fee of £85m for him, a whole £65m more than they paid for him.

Leeds scouted Gyokeres; Now Arsenal want £85m Swedish star
Leeds missed out on one. But, we were never going to beat a club like Sporting who are challenging for the Portuguese title and are competing in European football. Sporting a gateway to the biggest clubs.
That looks as though it will ring true, again. Arsenal and Milan are two of Europe’s biggest footballing institutions – but the Gunners need a no.9. Gyokeres is probably the most in-form striker at the moment.
Would he improve Arsenal? Without a doubt, but he might not start every game. It might be better if he waits until the summer before leaving Sporting – perhaps, with a Portuguese title under his belt.
