Football website 90Min claim AC Milan have decided to pursue a move for Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres ahead of January – just a few months on from Leeds United’s interest in the Swede.

Gyokeres, 25, has been sensational over the last couple of years. In his final season with Coventry, he had a hand in 34 goals in 50 games – scoring 22 goals and laying on 12 assists. Clubs became keen.

The Daily Mail said Leeds sent scouts to watch Gyokeres during the final stages of last season, and he remained a target for the club during the summer. But on July 13, he joined Sporting for a fee of £20m.

The Sweden star has starred for the Portuguese giants since joining the club. Sporting sit top of the league, and a large part of that is down to Gyokeres and the way the striker has hit the ground running.

Milan eye Viktor Gyokeres a few months after Leeds interest

He has had a hand in 15 goals during his 13 games for the Portuguese outfit, scoring 11 and creating four more. Such form is now attracting Milan, just a few months after Leeds were interested in a move.

The report from 90Min says West Ham and Brentford are also keeping an eye on his progress but with Milan in need of striker reinforcements, they could make a move. Olivier Giroud is first choice, at 37.

Of course, Milan have history with a Swedish striker that has brought them an enormity of success, in the form of the legendary Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Gyokeres then, could be off to Milan, after we were keen.
