Leeds United were one of the sides to have scouts in attendance to watch Viktor Gyokeres during Coventry City’s trip to Blackburn Rovers in the Championship last week.

That is according to a report from the Daily Mail, who suggest that Lille and Eintracht Frankfurt also had representatives at the game to watch the Swede.

Viktor Gyokeres did not actually score in the game. But there is absolutely no question that he has had an outstanding campaign for the Sky Blues.

Leeds scouted Viktor Gyokeres last week

In fact, the 24-year-old has found the back of the net 20 times, while he has also provided nine assists in the Championship. And that has left Mark Robins’ side on pole position to seal one of the remaining play-off spots.

But Coventry are certainly going to face a battle to keep Gyokeres beyond this season.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Leeds were one of the sides to watch Gyokeres in that clash with Blackburn last week.

Of course, the transfer targets on our shopping list will be decided by which division we end up in. Any hope of signing Gyokeres will be all but dashed if we fall into the Championship. He is heading for the highest level.

But if we do stay up, it would be brilliant to see the club pursue a deal for the ‘unbelievable‘ striker. Too often Victor Orta seems to have turned to players from clubs with big reputations abroad.

Some of those deals have worked out. But signing Real Madrid’s reserve goalkeeper, Barcelona’s back-up left-back or a midfielder Juventus were happy to loan out has not exactly worked out.

There are definitely gems to be signed from overseas. Raphinha and Willy Gnonto have been a couple of the success stories.

But when you look at Arsenal, many of the players they have signed have come from Premier League rivals. And that has helped take them into a title race.

Gyokeres is yet to play in the Premier League. But it would be good to see Leeds target a few more players who have more than proven themselves in the top-flight or Championship.

And Gyokeres has undoubtedly done that.
