Former Leeds United defender Aidy White has singled out an unsung hero for praise after the Whites claimed a famous victory over Chelsea.
Daniel Farke relieved some of the pressure surrounding his Leeds United future with a win over Chelsea to lift his side out of the bottom three in the Premier League.
There were plenty of star performers for Leeds in the victory as Jaka Bijol scored his first goal for the club and Japanese midfielder Ao Tanaka scored a screamer on the stroke of half-time.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin also continued his strong run of form with his second goal in two games to kill off any hope of a Chelsea comeback in the second half.
However, Aidy White singled out Joe Rodon at full-time, claiming that the totemic Leeds defender was his side’s unsung hero in the win.

Aidy White singles out Joe Rodon after Leeds United win
Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds at full-time of Leeds’ famous win over Chelsea, Aidy White praised Rodon for his consistent performances in a Leeds shirt this season.
Praising Leeds’ back five as a defensive unit, White claimed Rodon is an underrated part of Leeds’ side and deserved credit for his consistency.
Asked who had impressed him in the victory, White said: “Gudmundsson in all areas of the pitch today was fantastic. A couple of deliveries in the first half, phenomenal. In the second half, you could see he was starting to fatigue a bit.
“The only thing he maybe could have done a little bit better was his body shape in the goal for Chelsea. When the ball came in, he was very square. He just needed to open up a bit, and he realised too late where Neto was.

“The centre-halves as well, all three were great, Struijk especially,” White concluded, “Rodon as well; he always goes unnoticed because every week he’s at eight out of ten, at least.”
Joe Rodon closes in on incredible Norman Hunter record in win over Chelsea
Rodon has been a giant at the back since joining from Tottenham, initially on loan, at the beginning of the 2023/24 season.
According to Opta’s Jonny Cooper, by starting the famous win over Chelsea, the Wales star appeared in his 100th consecutive league or playoff match.
Where does Joe Rodon rank in the list of Leeds’ best-ever signings? 🤔
This is the first time that an outfield player has played 100 consecutive games since legendary defender Norman Hunter made 113 consecutive appearances between September 1962 and April 1965.
Rodon has been a model of consistency since joining Leeds following their relegation to the second tier. Having paid just £10million for the Welshman, he now has to be considered among Leeds’ greatest-ever signings.
