Aidy White now understands why Leeds United paid £5m to sign ‘tremendous’ player after Norwich win

It was a 17th Championship win of the season on Wednesday night for Leeds United as The Whites eased past Norwich City to return to the top of England’s second tier.

Not only did Leeds look good in the final third, but the defence was rock solid as Illan Meslier clocked up his 18th clean sheet of the season. Norwich had possession and territory but barely troubled his goal.

Going into Monday’s huge promotion clash against Burnley, a match against Daniel Farke’s old side could have been a potential banana skin. One that could have seen Leeds slip and derail the club’s momentum.

Plenty of Leeds players are in top form at the moment. Ethan Ampadu is impressing in defence, midfield looks good and Brenden Aaronson even impressed against Norwich. The wingers are in sensational form.

Jayden Bogle is arguably Leeds’ most in-form player currently

It was a slow start for Jayden Bogle. Conceding a penalty in Leeds’ first game, Bogle was “all over the place” against Sheffield Wednesday and then Tony Dorigo criticised Bogle for Burnley’s winner at Leeds.

However, the last couple of months and certainly since the turn of the year, Bogle has been excellent. He is scoring goals, creating them, defensively solid and has formed a super partnership with Dan James.

Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds’ post-match programme, Aidy White said: “Jayden Bogle, tonight he was really, really solid. Over the season he has grown tremendous amounts,” the former Leeds man claimed.

“Now we can see why we paid the amount of money we did for him. He’s chipping in with goals, chipping in with assists, he could have got one tonight – but other than that, top drawer again,” White added.

What Daniel Farke said about Jayden Bogle after Norwich win

A £5m signing from Sheffield United, Bogle was deemed a bit of a bargain even if he was out of contract in the summer of 2025 with the Blades. He impressed in the Premier League, but defensively was a doubt.

Now, Bogle seems to be dispelling those suggestions. Farke spoke highly of Bogle after the match: “Best right-back in the Championship? I think in the past 10 games he has been my player of the match.

“What he is delivering right now is unbelievable. Top-class character and a great teammate. Defensive and going forward,” Farke said. Bogle is quickly becoming one of Leeds’ best player and the timing is perfect.
