Leeds United return to Championship action against Swansea City this afternoon is set to be played in some pretty torrid weather conditions.

The United Kingdom has been hit hard by ‘Storm Bert’ over the last 48 hours with torrential rain hitting large parts of England, Wales and Scotland.

One Championship fixture fell foul to the weather on Saturday as Portsmouth’s long trip to Blackburn Rovers was postponed just a few hours before kick-off.

Several fixtures in League Two were also called off, though the hope would be that Swansea’s stadium will be far better equipped to deal with it.

Pope on what he’s been told about Swansea vs Leeds postponement

Leeds supporters have been sharing some of the terrible conditions they have had to drive through in order to get to South Wales on X.

Naturally, there is always that concern about what it could mean for the fixture going ahead and so BBC journalist Adam Pope has shared an update.

Pope says he has received a message from Swansea this morning that the game ‘will be on’ and is not in any doubt at this moment.

He also revealed that the referee has no plans for a pitch inspection yet which should also hopefully mean it has stood up well to the conditions that have been thrown their way.

Leeds will certainly be eager for it go ahead after 15 days without a game due to the international break.

Daniel Farke’s side can move top of the Championship for the first time this season with a win after both Sheffield United and Sunderland’s draws on Saturday.

David Prutton predicts Swansea vs Leeds score

Providing the game does go ahead, this looks like a pretty important match for both sides. As mentioned, Leeds can move top, while Swansea will be hoping to keep in touch with the top six.

David Prutton has shared his prediction ahead of the match and is backing Leeds to pick up a first away since their last trip to Wales in September.

He said: “Listen Leeds (got) back to winning ways against QPR after that kind of aberration at Millwall. Swansea and Luke, again we spoke about Bristol City doing relatively well, Swansea find themselves 11th.

“I think it will be a tough old task for Leeds down there. There’s always a bit of bite to this game as well. I mean obviously Leeds tend to find enemies wherever they go.

“The significance of these two playing each other in the second tier, I think is one to keep an eye on. The atmosphere should be electric. Swansea 1-2 Leeds.”
