Leeds United or Burnley – it all comes down to one more game. With both promoted, the long-term effect of this game means little but for the bragging rights and a trophy, it means everything.
Both sides were confirmed as promoted on Easter Monday when Leeds smashed Stoke City at Elland Road to win 6-0, before Burnley held off Sheffield United at Turf Moor to record a 2-1 home victory.
Promotion secured with two games left for both clubs. Both then played as if the shackles were off, Burnley going to QPR and smashing them 5-0 before Leeds cruised to an easy 4-0 win over Bristol City.
Now, the two sides go into the final game both on 97 points. The difference being Leeds have a much superior goal difference, and it means that a Leeds win guarantees The Whites go up as Champions.

Aaron Lennon predicts who will win the Championship title
Interestingly, pocket-sized winger Aaron Lennon played for both sides. The England international, who is now retired, came through at Leeds in the Thorp Arch academy before playing for Burnley later on.
Lennon played 43 times for Leeds, and it would have been a lot more had Leeds not promised to pay Lennon a fortune in bonuses as a teenager. He played for Burnley 87 times between 2018 and 2022.
Speaking to TalkSPORT on Wednesday afternoon, the former Elland Road attacker and England star explained how he thinks Leeds will go and beat Plymouth, reach 100 points and hold aloft the title.

“It’s massive for Leeds to be back in the Premier League. It’s where they belong. Friends and family are over the moon. But you still want that icing on the cake. Plymouth will be a tough game,” Lennon said
“Leeds, the form they’re in, they’ll fancy their chances, I fancy them to go on and win that game and then get 100 points,” the former Leeds man said earlier on today, which would be enough to win the title.
Plymouth’s situation, permutations and Leeds injury status
Firstly, Plymouth are relegated – even if they can mathematically still stay up. Sitting on 46 points, they can reach 49 with a win over Leeds but they would also require a swing of at least 14 goals to survive.

Plymouth and Cardiff are down – with Hull, Luton, Preston, Stoke or Derby set to join them. Leeds though, need to basically match Burnley’s result. That would see the two sides remain on the same points.
The goal difference is plenty for Leeds to still sit ahead of Burnley. Dan James says he has a “slim chance” of being fit, while Pascal Struijk is missing. Whether we get to see Joe Rothwell remains to be seen.
