Sky Sports claim Fulham are set to complete the £22million signing of Alex Iwobi from Everton today – it might prove to be bad news for Leeds United and our hopes of keeping Luis Sinisterra and Willy Gnonto.
Iwobi, 27, is set to end a four-year spell to return to London – having left Arsenal for Everton in 2019. The versatile ace has clocked up 140 games for Everton – now, he is set to go to Fulham for a huge £22m.
A good signing for Fulham and a good move for Iwobi – but the real winners are Everton. Receiving a huge £22m for the player is surely, a really good bit of Everton business for the 63-time Nigeria star.
Everton are expected to be busy today. The Mail say Everton have made an approach to Leeds to sign Luis Sinisterra, while Sky Sports say Leeds and Everton remain in talks for Willy Gnonto, on deadline day.
There have always been doubts as to whether Everton could afford Gnonto or Sinisterra. Especially, after the signings of Beto and Youssef Chermiti. But with Everton set to rake in £22m, they surely can.
Fulham set to sign £22m Everton’s Iwobi: Bad news for Leeds
So, it comes as a blow to Leeds that Fulham and Everton have struck an agreement for a massive fee for Iwobi. The £22m figure is likely to come in with Joao Palhinha set to move to Bayern Munich today.
Indeed, Fulham are expected to receive a £60m fee for the Portuguese midfielder. So, Everton have cash in the bank and are now ready to go back in for Gnonto – or make a move for Sinisterra today.
It would open the flood gates at Elland Road if Gnonto or Sinisterra were to be sold before on deadline day – they will need replacing. Sky Sports also say there is Premier League interest in Cree Summerville.
