£10m Leeds United player admits he has found life tough this season under Daniel Farke

The benefit of Daniel Farke adopting a small squad at Leeds United is that it improves harmony. It means the number of disgruntled players, not getting game time is limited.

But no matter how small you make the squad, there will always be a few frustrated players. Following the win against Preston, Largie Ramazani posted a cryptic message on social media after remaining unused.

There are other players struggling to get any minutes, too. Mateo Joseph seems to be third choice at the moment, with Patrick Bamford chosen to come off the bench ahead of him while Joel Piroe is first pick.

It also saw Joe Gelhardt leave Leeds for Hull City on loan in January. Another that could feel annoyed over his lack of game time is Max Wober – even if the Austria international has just returned from an injury.

Max Wober admits finding life at Leeds difficult this season

Wober has managed just eight appearances for Leeds this season after going under the knife on two separate occasions to correct knee issues. The £10m star is back but he was an unused sub on Saturday.

In an interview for Leeds United’s matchday programme ahead of Preston, Wober admits to finding life difficult with Farke in charge. However, he is fully aware that injury is simply part of professional football.

“If I am honest, there have been some tough times with injuries, because you don’t always feel like you can contribute or show what you’re able to do on the pitch. But it’s just part of the game, I know that.”

Where does Max Wober’s future lie after frustrating season…

Back in the summer of 2023, Wober used Victor Orta’s release clause to jump ship and join German side Gladbach on loan. Following the deal being confirmed, Wober said he left to solidify his Euro 2024 spot.

This summer, Wober will be faced with the same problem. Remain out of favour under Farke with the 2026 World Cup approaching, or would it be better if he left? Wober is expected to leave Leeds soon.

While the future of others depends on promotion – Wober’s does not. It is likely that if presented with the opportunity to leave and join a top-tier club, Wober will do so even with Leeds in the Premier League.
