Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Leeds endured a nightmarish afternoon against Brighton.
It was not much of a contest at the Amex Stadium as a goal from Danny Welbeck and a double by Diego Gomez sealed the points for the Seagulls, on a day Leeds strangely adopted a defensive approach right from the off.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin in particular cut a frustrated figure during the game, taking just 19 touches in his 65 minutes on the pitch before he was replaced by Lukas Nmecha.
However, the switch was not solely a tactical one, as Daniel Farke revealed an injury in his post-match press conference.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin suffered “quad or adductor” damage in 3-0 loss
Adam Pope shared quotes from the German on X (previously known as Twitter) in which he reveals the England international came off with a slight niggle.
The BBC journalist said: “DCL came off with a slight injury (possibly a quad or adductor says Farke).”
The full comments from the 49-year-old are yet to emerge, but we will keep you posted here on Leeds United News.
Farke, who surely felt sorry for Gabriel Gudmundsson up against Yankuba Minteh, did add that Leeds were unable to “use” Calvert-Lewin effectively due to how intense the pressing from Brighton was.
As quoted by Leeds Live, he said: “(His lack of support) was due to the way Brighton pressed. We couldn’t use him that much, especially in (an) away game.”
Why Jayden Bogle came off
Farke – who fans are furious with – also substituted Jayden Bogle in the 77th minute, revealing after the final whistle that the Leeds No.2 felt a bit ill.
Despite that, the right-back was still “surprised” by his withdrawal.
Farke said: “Mentioned he felt poorly at half time. He was surprised to be taken off.”

Leeds will hope neither of these problems persist, as the trip to Nottingham Forest next Sunday is now even more important, especially after Sean Dyche claimed a 2-2 draw against Manchester United.
