Jamie Carragher believes Daniel Farke needs to end Leeds United’s losing run “very quickly” after his side fell to another damaging defeat.

Daniel Farke witnessed history repeat itself for a second consecutive game as Leeds threw away a lead, as they slumped to another Premier League defeat.

Lukas Nmecha got Leeds off to the perfect start, although he didn’t know much about it, as the ball deflected off his standing leg to give his side an early lead.

However, Unai Emery’s double change at half-time changed the momentum of the contest, as Villa came roaring back, with Leeds fans turning their ire on Farke in the second half.

After having a goal ruled out after the ball hit the hand of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Leeds ended the weekend in the relegation zone as the pressure continues to build on Farke. Now Carragher has had his say on the Leeds manager as he faces continued scrutiny over his future.

Jamie Carragher fears for Leeds United manager Daniel Farke

Speaking on Sky Sports immediately after full-time, Carragher admitted that he has concerns over Farke’s Elland Road future.

According to Carragher, Farke needs to change the direction of travel “very quickly” as his side slips deeper into the relegation battle.

Carragher said: “The longer this run continues for Leeds, you would fear for the manager.

“As I said, we know, in the summer, there was talk about his job, then, even on the back of a successful campaign in the Championship.

“So, yeah, it’s the first time they’ve found themselves in the bottom three, so it hasn’t been the worst start in the world, but it’ll need to change very quickly.”

Defensive woes resurface despite Pascal Struijk recall

Farke received criticism for his team selection before kick-off as he made just one change from the defeat against Nottingham Forest, recalling Pascal Struijk in place of Jaka Bijol.

However, that change was not enough to change Leeds’ fortunes in defence, as they conceded two or more goals for the seventh time in 12 games this season.

Daniel Farke is statistically Leeds’ worst Premier League manager 📉

Villa’s first goal was a familiar sight for Leeds fans, as Donyell Manel was allowed to cross too easily by Ethan Ampadu, and Morgan Rogers got in front of Jayden Bogle to score.

Leeds have been criticised for their lack of cutting edge this season, but their porous defence is now beginning to cost Farke’s side far too often.
