‘A man reborn’… Leeds United fans think one player has found his calling after Villarreal draw

Despite a lacklustre game at Elland Road, there was an impressive performance from one player in Leeds United vs Villarreal.

Daniel Farke’s side have shown some quality signs in pre-season, but there wasn’t much to take out of a dull game against Villarreal.

Anton Stach looks like a steal after his performance for Leeds, but Isaac Schmidt’s display raises concern, with his loan move to Werder Bremen certainly needed.

Other bright sparks included the likes of Largie Ramazani, who has been consistent throughout the summer to prove to Farke that he deserves the vacant left-wing role.

However, one player really took the limelight, and he may have finally found his calling in West Yorkshire.

Leeds United fans very impressed by Brenden Aaronson’s performance vs Villarreal

It was difficult to pick out many shining performances with the game not providing much, but Brenden Aaronson ticked the boxes with his outing.

The American’s future is up in the air as many fans criticised his performances in the Championship last season.

But the 24-year-old is willing to prove why the Whites paid £25 million for him, as Aaronson wants to succeed in the Premier League, and with performances like that, he’ll be on the right path.

Leeds fans certainly saw his brilliance in the game as one fan praised his ability to bounce back: “Blimey – a man reborn,” another agreed, as they said: “Aaronson been unreal today.”

It wasn’t a normal day at the office for the US international who played on the right-wing, and that could be his calling at Elland Road: “I always knew Aaronson was better as a winger tbf” this was a theme between fans, as another claimed: “Great bit of play from Aaronson, more effective out wide imo.”

Many just saw him as the standout in what was a dull affair: “Aaronson best player for us by a country mile today.” another added: “Best attacker for us today by a mile.”

Brenden Aaronson performance means Leeds United definitely need a number ten

With Aaronson impressing out wide, it’s certainly given a clear answer to Farke.

Many fans last season said that the midfielder’s physicality is what let him down, as the 24-year-old still had a solid season in the Championship.

A chance to play in the number ten role will be difficult in the Premier League, as this physicality only increases with the step-up.

So, the right-winger role might be the American’s ideal position moving forward, and can finally prove that Leeds are better with Aaronson in the lineup, but what’s also clear is that a new number ten is a must now.

Bilal El Khannouss remains Leeds’ likely candidate, but other options need to be drawn up, as the lack of creativity against the Spanish outfit on Saturday said it all.
