Leeds United are interested in raiding Sunderland to sign left-back Dennis Cirkin ahead of the January window, and transfer expert Graeme Bailey has given his thoughts on the potential move.
The 22-year-old has starred for Sunderland over the last three years, helping them gain promotion back to The Championship after his move from Tottenham and closing in on 100 matches for the Black Cats.
Cirkin even scored on Saturday from all of 25 yards out during a 2-2 draw with Coventry. Leeds are likely to be in the market for a new left-back with Junior Firpo’s contract due to expire at the end of the season.
We spoke to Sunderland AFC News writer Luke Phelps about a move for Cirkin, and Phelps reckons a deal would cost as much as £15m in January. Now, Graeme Bailey has given an update on a move for Cirkin.

Graeme Bailey discusses Leeds’ chances of Dennis Cirkin signing
Sunderland have made handing Cirkin a new contract a priority, with his current deal due to expire at the end of the 2025-26 season. But it is unlear if Cirkin wants to put pen to paper on a new Sunderland deal.
Tottenham have a clause in Cirkin’s contract that includes a sell-on clause. Bailey though, says he would be stunned if Leeds could sign star Cirkin in the next couple of months, but every player has his price.
“I’d be amazed if Sunderland allowed him out of the door, but every player has his price. I don’t see them selling to a rival in January, whatsoever. I don’t think he’d be much of an upgrade for Leeds,” he said.

Dennis Cirkin is not the only left-back Leeds want to sign
Archie Brown is also a target for Leeds ahead of January, with the Englishman currently signing for Gent in Belgium alongside Max Dean. Brown has plenty of interest in his services including other English sides.
There are likely to be other left-sided defenders linked with Leeds before January, as Firpo grows closer and closer to the end of his contract. But like Cirkin, Brown is going to cost a whole lot more for Leeds.
However, should Firpo leave, either player – whether it be Brown or Cirkin – would be wonderful signings. Capable of goals, assists, playing in different positions and suiting a style adopted by boss Daniel Farke.
