Leeds United are in a good spot at the moment, sitting in third after Tuesday night’s results but with the potential to go top of the Championship table if they manage to beat Millwall on Wednesday.
Despite long-term injuries to Ethan Ampadu, Ilia Gruev and Largie Ramazani, the Whites look a much more balanced side rather than often relying on individuals last season, like Crysencio Summerville.
Even without Summerville, Georginio Rutter or Archie Gray – Leeds look better. Daniel Farke’s men might not have the individual talent they did last season, but they look more-rounded as a whole outfit.
Following Saturday’s easy 3-0 win over Plymouth at Elland Road, Leeds go to Millwall on Wednesday night in what will prove a much-tougher encounter than facing Wayne Rooney’s men on the weekend.
How Leeds compare to 2019-20 season under Marcelo Bielsa
Leeds finished top of the Championship table and were not only automatically promoted in Marcelo Bielsa’s second season, but went up as champions. They secured 93 points, winning 28 of 46 matches.
There were bumps in the road but Leeds held firm and eventually cantered over the line. But interestingly, this season, Leeds are two points better off than they were that season under the legendary Argentine.
Currently, Leeds are in third with 26 points from 13 games. Under Bielsa in 2019-20, Leeds had also won seven times, but had suffered two more defeats and drawn two less, meaning they only had 24 points.

Not only are Leeds two points better off, but they have proved more efficient in front of goal. Farke has watched his side score five more goals than the 17 Leeds had managed after 13 games during 2019-20.

Eight goals have been conceded this season, the same amount at this stage five years ago. Leeds have eight clean sheets after 13 games this term, but it took them until their 14th game to reach that amount.
Leeds will need Regis Le Bris’ early front-runner Sunderland to lose to Preston on Wednesday night, and beat Millwall to go top. But it is easily feasible, with Sunderland set to go without Jobe Bellingham.
