Adam Underwood’s work in the transfer window is starting to take shape with Leeds United closing in on their fifth signing of the window, with focus set to move to the attacking third.

Sean Longstaff is set to agree a move to Elland Road from Newcastle before the end of the week, after the club announced the signing of Gabriel Gudmundsson and that Sam Byram will remain another year.

Leeds still have much to do this summer, especially with Sunderland spending big and Burnley bringing in Kyle Walker. A goalkeeper, midfielder, no.10, a replacement for Manor Solomon, and a striker are needed.

Well, it seems Underwood is already starting to make moves in those areas. LeedsUnited.News has been told that Leeds could make a loan-to-buy move for Emi Buendia, while a bid has been made for a winger.

Why Patrick Bamford could help Leeds sign new winger

Leeds are said to have tabled a £13m bid for Jeremie Boga. The Ivory Coast winger is currently with Nice in France and is said to be on the move after an indifferent season across the channel, netting three goals.

Boga, now 28, has two years remaining on his contract and has played in four different countries. Leeds are keen to lure him back to England for the first time since Chelsea sold him to Sassuolo in 2018.

Boga came through the ranks at Chelsea with Patrick Bamford. They played eight times together for the U21 side, Bamford even setting Boga up for a goal in a 3-3 draw with Liverpool in November 2012.

With Boga said to be a target for Leeds, even if the source of the interest is not wholly reliable, Bamford could help Leeds do a deal for the winger by reigniting contact and providing a first-hand scout report.

Marcelo Bielsa wanted Jeremie Boga before signing Dan James

It is not the first time that 21-time Ivory Coast international Boga has been linked with a move to Leeds. Back in the summer of 2021, Marcelo Bielsa finally got his man with the signing of Leeds hero Dan James.

James, of course, almost joined Leeds 18 months prior, only for Swansea to stop answering the phone. A £25m deal was completed towards the end of the window, but only after Leeds had looked at Boga.

At the time, The Daily Mail reported that Leeds were among the interested parties in Boga who was still with Sassuolo. A season prior, Sassuolo rejected a £30m bid from Napoli for the former Chelsea winger.

Whether Leeds are interested in Boga remains to be seen. But, Leeds do need a left-sided winger and while at Nice, that seems to be where Boga has been playing. Leeds will have others on their list.
