Leeds United transfer target Troy Parrott sent another reminder to his suitors as he continued his prolific scoring form for his club.
Troy Parrott was the undoubted breakout star of the recent international break as he scored five goals in two games for the Republic of Ireland.
Having been linked with a move to Leeds in the summer, the centre forward’s name was once again connected with a switch to Elland Road.
Leeds learned how much AZ Alkmaar would demand to release Parrott in the January transfer window, with several Premier League clubs reportedly interested in bringing him to England.
Now, Parrott’s manager has explained what makes him a “high-level” player as he returned to action with a goal for Alkmaar.
Which position do Leeds United need to strengthen most in January?
Explain why!
Leeds United target Troy Parrott praised by AZ Alkmaar manager
Parrott continued his prolific run of form with a goal for Alkmaar to take his remarkable recent tally to six goals in three appearances since the start of the international break.
Speaking to the Irish Times after the game, AZ Alkmaar coach Maarten Martens praised the way that Parrott has developed physically, which has helped to take his game to the next level.
“Physically, he has become more of an athlete, stronger; he can deliver more in the press,” Martens said.
“He’s a smart player, a team player, and technically he’s on a high level. He’s stable mentally. The fitter and stronger he gets, the higher he will play.
“He can play in other positions because he’s smart; he can play as a second striker or from the wing, but his best position is number nine because he’s a clean finisher. And he scores goals in different ways.”

Leeds United target Troy Parrott scores again
Although Heerenveen put Parrott’s Alkmaar side to the sword, Parrott was on target once again, scoring his side’s only goal in a 3-1 defeat.
Parrott’s goal was a typical striker’s finish, as he showed a deft touch to bring the ball under control after a pass was fizzed into him.

He then did well to shoot right-footed into the bottom corner, striking the ball on the turn as it bounced after his initial control.
Parrott’s goal was his sixth in eight Eredivisie games, and his 20th goal in all competitions this season, as his hot streak in front of goal shows no sign of slowing down.
