Things get worse for Daniel Farke as European giants now want player he discarded at Leeds United

Daniel Farke is navigating a difficult period of his Leeds career.

The German has suffered four defeats in his last five Premier League games, and the spotlight is firmly on him after two failed stints at this level with Norwich – despite many roaring successes in the Championship.

Farke is also upsetting some fans with his comments in recent interviews, where he has bizarrely boasted about having more possession than Nottingham Forest and called Leeds an “emotional” club too.

The pressure is mounting on Daniel Farke… should Leeds United sack him?⌛

Amid this situation, an error made by Daniel Farke in 2024 is now starting to look even worse as Juventus show a desire to sign Charlie Cresswell.

Juventus want Leeds United academy graduate Charlie Cresswell

Mirko Di Natale of Tuttosport now states that Juventus are closely monitoring the England U21 international as they aim to sign a new central defender.

The journalist wrote on X (previously known as Twitter): “Another name being monitored is that of Charlie Cresswell from Toulouse.

“The 23-year-old English centre-back has been the protagonist so far of a very good start to the season and was also followed by Como in the summer.”

Farke fell out with Cresswell at Elland Road and later sold the centre-back to Toulouse in July 2024 for peanuts, as Leeds received just £3.8m for the defender.

It now undoubtedly looks to have been the wrong call from the 49-year-old, who has since spent £15m on a new defender in Jaka Bijol after allowing the Leeds academy graduate to go on the cheap.

Do Leeds United have a sell-on clause for Charlie Cresswell?

Leeds do stand to benefit financially if Juventus – or any other club for that matter – sign Cresswell.

A 15% sell-on clause was agreed with Toulouse during negotiations, meaning Leeds will get a small cut of the transfer fee should he be in line for an exit in the near future.

Should Leeds follow Nottingham Forest’s path and risk a points deduction? 💸

“This summer, we spent everything we could. Unequivocally, we are maxing PSR out this season. If we had gone on to other targets [on deadline day], the consequences would have been seen in the current roster. More key players from last season would have had to go.”

With Leeds at their PSR limit heading into the January transfer window, it would be a timely boost if that 15% sell-on clause is activated in the coming weeks.
