Leeds failed to sign a standout striker during the summer transfer window.

Lukas Nmecha has impressed lately with two goals in his last two Premier League appearances, but can only boast three strikes overall.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who also arrived on a free transfer, can only lay claim to one goal so far this season.

As the duo struggle to shine at Elland Road, a striker Leeds ignored in Carlos Vinicius is dazzling for Gremio.

It was Sportsboom who stated back in June that Leeds were considering the Brazilian after he was released by Fulham.

Everton were also named as an interested party, but Vinicius ultimately left the Premier League and signed a one-year deal with Gremio, where he is absolutely on fire.

The South American can boast nine goals and one assist in his first 12 Brasileiro Serie A appearances.

Brazilian news outlet Trivela are now even comparing Vinicius to Luis Suarez, a prolific figure who bagged 69 goals in 110 Premier League appearances for Liverpool.

It is, of course, a mystery as to whether the 30-year-old would have been able to replicate such outstanding form for Leeds this season, but his efforts create an interesting talking point as to whether he would have outdone Nmecha or Calvert-Lewin.

The 49ers seem unsatisfied with striking options at Leeds United

Ahead of the winter transfer window, several leaks suggest The 49ers are unhappy with Nmecha, Calvert-Lewin and Joel Piroe as striking options.

Which position do Leeds United need to strengthen most in January?

Explain why!

Leeds United News understand Haji Wright is a target heading into January, while Josh Sargent of Norwich is also admired by decision makers at Elland Road.

Leeds wouldn’t be monitoring other strikers if they were content with the current options, so be sure to keep an eye on developments as we approach the winter transfer window.
