Leeds United have made their move in the race for Barcelona winger Roony Bardghji, enquiring about signing the Swedish sensation.
The 20-year-old right winger, who arrived at the Camp Nou last summer, has been deemed surplus to requirements by Hansi Flick ahead of the 2026-27 season.
The arrival of Anthony Gordon and the imminent signing of Karim Adeyemi have all but closed the door on the youngster’s pathway into the first team.
With Barcelona keen to balance their books, a dramatic exit route is taking shape, and Elland Road could be his next destination.

Leeds United enquire about signing Roony Bardghji
Leeds United are firmly in the mix. According to Mundo Deportivo, the Whites are one of six Premier League clubs to have enquired about the winger’s availability.
Daniel Farke is keen to add dynamic talent to his attacking ranks, having already signed Harry Wilson on a free transfer.
However, the competition is fierce. Alongside Leeds, Aston Villa, Sunderland, Everton, Fulham and Brighton have expressed interest, while clubs from at least five other leagues are also in the mix.
Barcelona demand: Buy-back clause non-negotiable
While Barcelona are eager to sanction an exit, negotiating a deal presents a complex puzzle for any suitor:
- Bardghji is reluctant to sever ties with the Catalan giants permanently so early in his career. He prefers a temporary loan move to gain first-team minutes, remaining hopeful that he can still prove his worth to Barcelona down the line.
- Meanwhile, Barcelona are open to both loan offers and a permanent transfer, but on one non-negotiable condition: any permanent exit must include a buy-back clause.
- Having invested €2.5million (£2.1million) to sign him from Copenhagen, Barcelona refuse to lose control of his long-term future

The 10-day deadline
Leeds United do not have the luxury of playing the long game here.
Barcelona have set a deadline: they want Bardghji’s transfer fully resolved before the squad board their flight to England for their pre-season camp on 27 July – exactly 10 days from Friday.
This self-imposed deadline is designed to keep unwanted distractions out of Flick’s preparation while clearing up space on the wage bill before the heavy pre-season schedule begins.

What this means for Leeds
There is no denying Bardghji’s raw technical ceiling – his left-footed cut-ins from the right winger are mesmerising. However, Paraag Marathe and Co. should proceed with caution.
Having already signed Wilson on a free transfer, a straight loan with no purchase option simply turns Elland Road into a developmental hub for Barcelona’s assets.
If the Whites can negotiate a loan-to-buy agreement that keeps the fee realistic, it is a no-brainer.
If Barcelona refuse to budge on a straight loan or insist on a prohibitively low buy-back clause, Leeds United may be better served focusing their resources elsewhere.
