Leeds United’s pursuit of Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Facundo Buonanotte looks as though it has been dealt a major blow.
In a statement released by the Paraguay FA, via journalist Roberto Rojas, Julio Enciso has picked up a knee injury in training with Brighton.
Though the extent of the damage is yet to be fully determined, there have been suggestions via Rojas that Enciso has suffered a possible meniscus tear.

That will almost certainly keep him out until way past the deadline, leaving Brighton a body short in that position just behind the striker.
There had been a concrete possibility of Brighton allowing Buonanotte to leave on loan in order to receive regular game time, but Enciso’s injury may put an end to that.
Brighton losing Enciso to injury hands Leeds blow
According to Argentinian journalist Victor Bilsky, as per the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds were in talks over a potential season-long-loan deal.
Buonanotte had broken into Brighton’s first team following his January arrival from Rosario Central but the arrival of Joao Pedro from Watford has meant he has not played a single minute this season.

Enciso, Pedro and Solly March are all ahead of him in the pecking order for that spot either on the right, or as a number 10.
However, with Enciso now set to be out for a sustained period of time, they can ill afford to lose Buonanotte, particularly with European football on the horizon.
This now feels like a deal that just won’t happen and Leeds will have to turn their attention elsewhere.
