Leeds United are being linked with a surprise move to sign one of The Championship’s best players and he reportedly is keen on an exit after missing out on promotion last season.

The Whites are expected to be busy in the next few weeks and make a few new signings having brought in just four so far, with one the permanent addition of Joe Rodon and another, a third-choice goalkeeper.

Only Jayden Bogle and Joe Rothwell truly add anything to the side Leeds had last term, with Rodon on loan at Elland Road in 2023-24. Alex Cairns has come in to replace Kris Klaesson but is unlikely to play.

Pascal Struijk is back from injury, and both Max Wober and Brenden Aaronson are back at Elland Road after loans. All three will act like new signings ahead of the opener against Portsmouth on August 10.

Leeds want to sign an attacking midfielder and a full-back

Farke has said it himself and Nancy Froston reports in her latest Athletic piece that Leeds want two more signings, should no-one else depart. He is eyeing more cover at full-back, as he boasts only three options.

The Leeds boss is also keen on a replacement for Glen Kamara, a midfielder that can score goals and one player the club have been linked with this summer is Norwich City’s Brazilian playmaker Gabriel Sara.

The 26-year-old laid on a huge 25 goals in his 48 Championship appearances for Norwich last season and the “outstanding” talent is said to be rated at a fee of £17m, with Leeds confident of a deal to sign Sara.

Gabriel Sara wants to leave Norwich as Leeds linked with move

The Brazilian, who was bought by Norwich for a fee of £10m in 2022, is considered one of the best the Championship has to offer. He was picked in The Championship Team of the Season thanks to his form.

Give Me Sport say that after Norwich failed to gain promotion after losing to Leeds in the semi-finals, Sara is keen on an exit. Leeds might have a chance then, though there is competition for Sara’s signature.

Indeed, Europa League winners Atalanta are touted as a possible suitor for the midfielder who can play as one of the two in a 4-2-3-1 system, or as a 10. A set-piece specialist, Sara would be a wonderful addition.
