Leeds United may not be playing in the Premier League at the moment, but they are still a big pull.
As well as boasting a rich history, Leeds have one of the strongest and most loyal fanbases in England.
Even in the Championship this season, the West Yorkshire club are getting over 36,000 supporters on average for their home matches at Elland Road.
And those who think that because Leeds, who want to sign Dennis Cirkin, are unlikely to win major trophies, such as the Premier League anytime soon, are not a dream destination for players would be wise to read the following comments from Nikolai Hopland.
Hopland is a 20-year-old Norwegian central defender who is on loan at Dutch club SC Heerenveen from Aalesunds FK at the moment.
The Norway Under-21 international centre-back has made seven starts and one substitute appearance in the Eredivisie so far this season. He has scored one goal in those games.
Nikolai Hopland shares his Leeds United ‘dream’
While Hopland is focused on doing his best for Heerenveen right now, he has an eye on a move to Leeds in the long run, saying that it is his “dream” to play for the English club.
Hopland told Voetbal Primeur: “People often laugh when I say this, but since I was four, it has always been Leeds United. Together with my father, I have been there about 20 times.

“I think I have every shirt they’ve had in the last 15 years in my wardrobe and I still watch almost every game if it works out with our own schedule. A really great club.
“It is my dream to play for them one day and I will do everything I can to make that dream come true.”
Erling Haaland also wanted to play for Leeds United
While noting Hopland’s dream of playing for Leeds in the future, one cannot help but go back to the comments made by Erling Haaland a number of years ago.
Haaland is now on the books of Manchester City and is firing in the goals for fun.
The 24-year-old striker has scored 75 goals and given 13 assists in 77 Premier League matches.
The Norway international has won the Premier League title twice and the UEFA Champions League once with City.
It is hard to see Haaland join Leeds anytime soon, but back in 2017, he revealed his desire to win the Premier League title with the West Yorkshire club.
Haaland, who had Eirik Bakke on the back of his Leeds shirt, told Aftenposten: “I want to be the best. The dream is to win the Premier League with Leeds.”
Hopland is Haaland’s Norwegian compatriot. Now 20, perhaps in the next few years he could earn a move to Leeds and fulfil the dream that Haaland, who wanted to sing Marching On Together for his City initiation song, never could.
