The future of Harry Gray is currently a hot topic at Leeds.

Daniel Farke is yet to give the precocious 17-year-old his Premier League debut despite scoring ten goals and providing two assists in 13 games for the academy this season, leaving many Leeds fans wondering if a loan move beckons.

The German did hint that he would be open to loaning out young players if the right opportunity presents itself this winter during his press conference on Tuesday, and the Daily Mail now claim a move to Barnsley could materialise for Harry Gray.

The Daily Mail believe the teenager could now be sent to the League One side to ‘gain vital experience’ as he proves youth football is far too easy for him.

A big decision for Leeds United to make… should Harry Gray be sent out on loan?

Interestingly, the report also backs up an earlier claim from Alan Nixon to say that Manchester City are considering Gray as a permanent signing, although a loan move elsewhere looks likeliest.

Derby – who can offer Championship football to the Leeds wonderkid – are also said to be interested in a January loan deal.

It comes after Hull were credited with an interest in Gray too, where the Tigers can also offer him Championship football and the chance to play alongside a familiar face in Joe Gelhardt.

Funnily enough, Conor Hourihane is currently managing Barnsley, and the 34-year-old has a colourful history with Leeds.

Daniel Farke thinks he’s the perfect manager for Harry Gray

“I don’t want to sound arrogant, but I gave Harry his debut. If I were to back a manager to be brave enough to play a young player, I’d pick me.”

Supporters were enraged after the Irishman somehow escaped punishment after punching Mateusz Klich during that infamous 1-1 draw against Aston Villa back in April 2019, when the Pole’s controversial goal sparked a melee on the pitch.

Hourihane has also scored twice against Leeds over the years, just to irk fans even more.

However, if the Barnsley boss throws Gray straight into his starting XI and helps the Leeds No.45 begin to fulfil his vast potential, it would surely go some way to rebuilding his reputation amongst the fanbase.
