Long-term Leeds United target completes £19m move to Wolves, Daniel Farke made a bid last summer

Leeds United are busy bringing in players from all over Europe but one thing they haven’t done so far, is foray further than this continent. Well, Wolves have done just that.

Lucas Perri is set to arrive at Leeds’ Germany base ahead of doing a medical and signing on the dotted line for a £15.6m fee from Lyon. A coup for Leeds, managing to nab the Brazilian from a side like Lyon.

Leeds have been busy, with a week still remaining until the end of July. The defence is sorted, the midfield improved and now a goalkeeper is set to arrive to replace Illan Meslier. Meslier is now expected to depart.

Up next for Leeds is likely to be the signings of a winger with Manor Solomon returning to Tottenham and a striker, with Rodrigo Muniz the priority target. Two South Americans, but still playing in Europe.

Wolves confirm signing of long-term Leeds United target

One player The Whites may have considered to replace Solomon this summer is Jhon Arias. A Colombia international, Arias has sparkled over the last few years in Brazil with Serie A giants Fluminense.

He continued to put his name out there at the Club World Cup, with some reports in Brazil naming Arias as the competition’s ‘best player’. Arias has been strongly linked with Leeds in recent transfer windows.

Last summer, Leeds and Farke even made a £12.7m bid for Arias. But now, Arias is set to make his bow in the Premier League as Wolves confirm his arrival. Arias has signed a four-year contract with Wolves.

How much Wolves are paying to sign Jhon Arias…

Leeds were touted with a move for Arias before last summer, and a bid to get the winger last summer was always optimistic. The chances are that Arias would have been holding out for a Premier League club.

Well, this summer he has got that move. He swaps Fluminense for Wolves, to the tune of £19m. Reporter Ben Jacobs says on his Instagram that Wolves are paying an initial £14.7m for Arias, £4.3m in add-ons.

A whole lot more expensive than Leeds tried to sign Arias for last summer. But another superb season in Brazil followed by his exploits at the Club World Cup have clearly seen Arias’ price tag bloat to £19m.
