Leeds United have a number of players still needing to be moved on, especially those that are not going to be a part of Daniel Farke’s Premier League plans.

The club have let go of Manor Solomon and Joe Rothwell after their loans expired, but 11 other players have sealed permanent or loan exits from Leeds United this summer.

Patrick Bamford had his contract terminated by mutual consent, Josuha Guilavogui was not handed an extension, and Junior Firpo headed back to Real Betis. All of that while Sam Greenwood and Rasmus Kristensen are the only players Leeds have received fees for.

Joe Gelhardt and Charlie Crew have been loaned to the EFL, while Isaac Schmidt, Mateo Joseph, Largie Ramazani, and Max Wober have headed on loan to top flight leagues in Europe. However, another is set to join Crew and Gelhardt.

Darko Gyabi close to joining Hull City on loan from Leeds

Darko Gyabi returned to Leeds this summer and Illan Meslier and Gyabi are the last players to offload, having been cast aside by Farke this summer.

Championship fans want Leeds’ powerful midfielder Gyabi, after impressing despite Plymouth Argyle’s relegation in 2024/25 on loan. French and Championship interest in Gyabi emerged lately.

Hull City, Wrexham, and Watford all want Darko Gyabi. It then emerged that Gelhardt’s side led the race, with Hull eyeing Gyabi on a loan deal. That was only if they could free up room in their squad to sign him.

It’s since been revealed that they are now closing in on the move for the 21-year-old, seemingly finding the space in their squad to make a move happen.

Baz Cooper of the Hull Daily Mail states that a move to sign Gyabi from Leeds is now very close for Hull City. They are in ‘pole position’ to sign him on loan.

He states that Gyabi is due at the club’s Cottingham training ground on Monday to complete the switch from West to East Yorkshire, provided there are no late hitches.

He adds that Leeds had no shortage of interest, with five clubs chasing his signature. It’s said two of those are in France, but it’s understood “he’s keen to join the Tigers.”

Lincoln City boss Michael Skubala’s verdict on Darko Gyabi

Current Lincoln City boss and former Leeds academy coach Michael Skubala rates Gyabi highly. This could be a mistake if he is to be believed, as he made something very clear in 2022.

Gyabi will be out of contract next summer from his loan and Skubala admitted that the youngster still has work to do, but his ceiling is high and his future is extremely bright, stating he will only get “better and better.”

His time in the academy proved this promise, and nine appearances might not seem enough time for Gyabi to prove his worth to the first-team. It’s unlikely he would have made it at Leeds, but a lack of a sale will be a frustration.
