Leeds United want to sign highly rated midfielder after his asking price drops by 25%

Leeds United’s hunt for the right signings continues after Daniel Farke’s admission there won’t be any new players through the door before Sheffield Wednesday.

The Whites make the trip to Hillsborough this coming Friday six days on from a dour 0-0 draw at West Bromwich Albion, in which it was very clear just how short Farke‘s squad currently is.

With Leeds still yet to find replacements for either Georginio Rutter or Crysencio Summerville, they managed just one shot on target across the entire 90 minutes.

Not only did the lack of box-to-box midfielder contribute to the lack of service for the attack, but those in the front four also really struggled.

Joel Piroe in the number 10 role just did not work and the three around him were snuffed out pretty comfortably by West Brom’s defence.

Leeds eyeing move for Lausanne’s Alvyn Sanches

Farke has long made it clear that he would like to add more of a goal threat to his midfield options, but unfortunately Ilia Gruev just isn’t that player.

Glen Kamara was sold for that exact reason and based on the French media’s verdict of his Rennes debut, it looks like a mistake to let him go.

Manchester United’s Hannibal Mejbri is a player seemingly on Leeds’ radar but according to the Daily Express, he is not the only one.

It is said Leeds are among a host of clubs including Celtic, Burnley and Feyenoord in the race to sign Lausanne-Sport midfielder Alvyn Sanches.

Celtic are currently at the front of the queue for Sanches as they prepare to splash the cash on a replacement for Matt O’Riley, with the Scottish side’s scouting department viewing him as having the potential to be a ‘top player’.

Lausanne had set an asking price of £4 million earlier in the window, but are said to have dropped that down to £3 million as interest continues to build.

Who is new Leeds target Alvyn Sanches?

Sanches is a 21-year-old who already has plenty of senior experience under his belt in Switzerland, having played 89 times for Lausanne already.

He is someone who is capable of playing both as a number eight or 10, and certainly has an eye for goal from midfield, with 16 across those 89 senior appearances.

Sanches has also represented Switzerland both at U20s and U21s level, scoring five goals in nine caps, which is a highly impressive return.

At Lausanne, he has a contract until the summer of 2026 but Leeds are going to face a lot of competition for his signature if they are to firm up interest.
