Leeds United have been linked to a number of midfielders this summer, but perhaps none more ambitious than Juventus’ Douglas Luiz.
Ambitious ‘reach’ signings have been detailed by Graham Smyth and those are being looked at as the early signings of the window by Leeds United, which could now include Luiz.
Leeds have been linked with several midfielders so far but the most recent reports have revealed how Leeds are in the race to sign Luiz from Juventus.
It’s also understood that Juve are ready to take a financial hit on Luiz after they paid £42 million to sign him last summer, with £30 million the potential asking price this time round.
Leeds offered hope in Douglas Luiz pursuit
Leeds supporters have given positive feedback on Luiz and they’re getting excited by the possibility that the Brazilian international could be playing his football at Elland Road next season.
Luiz could be a part of a dream Leeds midfield next season if they can somehow secure the services of the former Aston Villa ace, having struggled somewhat since his move to Italy and the Serie A giants.
Frustratingly, Man United have also been linked to Luiz in a potential swap deal involving Jadon Sancho and a deal will definitely be difficult to complete for Leeds, given how ambitious the move is and the level of competition as well.
One report has offered some hope that Jose Mourinho could help Leeds to sign Luiz. But the latest reports give more than just a glimmer of hope to the Whites.
Having once been Villa’s star man and winning gold medals with Brazil, his stock was extremely high. However, according to Calciomercato, Leeds could have a chance of securing what would be an impressive transfer coup for them.
That’s due to Juventus’ desire to sell and other clubs not stepping forward as of yet. Leeds are said to have contacted his entourage and have a chance as others fail to move forward.
It’s a surprising development in some ways as there has been a lack of effort from other clubs following his last Premier League season being so impressive.
Having not been fancied to have a chance earlier in the summer, it appears as though Leeds are now a firm contender in the race for Luiz’s signature.

Timothy Weah linked to Leeds in Juventus double swoop
Luiz is not the only Juventus star Leeds have been reported as interested in of late, with Timothy Weah also a Leeds target.
Neither have been able to make the impact they would like to have so far, but the USMNT star is a versatile player who can operate as a winger, striker, or even wing-back.

Either would improve Leeds in some respect, with Luiz able to dominate and dictate games at his best. Weah’s speed and power would suit the Premier League’s current type of winger.
